THE ORIGIN OF THE PEAR CUT

The teardrop shaped diamond cut was originally established by Lodewyk Van Berquem of Belgium circa in the early 1400s. It's unique and meant to symbolize empowerment, independence, and strong will. Even more so, it can appropriately represent tears of joy. The teardrop shape itself was popularized by style icon Elizabeth Taylor on a pear shape ring cut by Harry Winston back in 1967.

THE BEAUTY OF A PEAR SHAPED DIAMOND

These pear shaped stones are arguably the most unique of all diamond cuts and timeless in their presentation. The sleek design and length to width ratio is demure and purposeful curves illuminate the diamond under any light. The pointed edge gives it an esoteric flair unlike it's counterpart, the round diamond. Both soft and sharp, coming together from opposite ends, which can signify an edgy yet classic bride. Furthermore, it can also signify the bond of two unique people forming a perfect union from seemingly opposite ends.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR PEAR DIAMOND?

Since it's all about the shape of the stone, make sure to pay close attention to the polish and symmetry of the diamond. We recommend you allocate a decent amount of the budget towards the best cut you can afford. The cut and polish is what's going to make the diamond "pop" and sparkle under light so don't ignore it at all!

Also pay close attention to the measurements of the stone itself to make sure the shape is not too wide or not too elongated. Try to find a diamond that has balanced measurements. Finally, as far as color goes, we recommend you choose a minimum of I color (GIA) so you can guarantee a nice white diamond that's not too tinted.

WAYS TO STYLISTICALLY WEAR YOUR PEAR ENGAGEMENT RING

Perhaps one of the most common questions presented to us by customers is do you wear a pear shaped ring up or down? Our answer is always the same, it's meant to be worn with the pointed edge facing outward towards the nails. It just looks right and the way it's meant to be worn.

If you're looking for advice on what engagement ring to choose for your center stone, pair your pear shaped diamond (no pun intended) with a halo setting to make it pop or try a solitaire ring if you wish to glorify the center stone. We can also recommend a hidden halo setting if you wish to combine both of the effects mentioned above into one. As far as metals go, our diamond ring pieces look equally stunning, in white gold, rose gold, yellow gold or platinum.

At the end of the day, no matter what setting you choose a teardrop diamond will always shine bright and you'll walk away with a pear shaped engagement ring as unique as your soul mate. Are you ready to make her fall in love?
